Mowers
4/22/2025
Notice: It has come to our attention there are young people driving lawn mowers on the City streets and in some cases the mower was pulling yournger children behind it. ALL motorized vehicles driven on city streets are required to be operated by licensed drivers and they are to follow all Nebraska driving laws. This includes lawn mowers and ATV's. The Sheriff's Department said they would handle these cases. Please make sure children are safe in all situations.
Sidewalks
4/22/2025
The City of Crofton is having corners of the sidewalks on 2nd Street made handicapped accessible. Starting Wednesday April 23rd with the West side of Kansas and 2nd Street at the Kayton lot. Work will continue for several weeks. Corners at the North and South side of Kansas and East side of 2nd Street, and corners on North and South sides of Main on East side of 2nd Street, will also be done. We are sorry for the inconvenience but the work will be worth the trouble.
Garbage Tote

The Garbage Tote has to be set with the wheels towards the house. It must be set away from any vehicle so truck can get close enough to pick up with automatic arm.

PUBLIC HEARING FOR FUNDING OPTIONS FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT MAY 8TH AT 6:30 IN THE AUDITORIUM AT 1210 W 2ND ST. CITY RESIDENTS WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO ASK ABOUT AND VOICE THEIR OPINIONS ON HOW THE FUNDING FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE WATER MAIN ALONG HWY 12 FROM 8TH TO E 4TH STREET WILL BE PAID FOR. The City Council Meeting will be held after the hearing. Agenda will be posted at the Post Office, Peoples Grocery, Farmers and Merchants bank, and in the City Office board. They are also available at the City Office.

A GREAT PRODUCT "IRON OUT" HAS BEEN FOUND THAT WILL TAKE THE RUST OUT OF YOUR CLOTHES. IF YOU WASHED A LOAD OF LAUNDRY BEFORE KNOWING THE WATER WAS RUSTY THIS PRODUCT WILL TAKE THE RUST OUT. IT IS SAFE FOR YOUR CLOTHING. IT IS AVAILABLE NOW AT WALMART. IT CAN BE FOUND IN THE PLUMBING AREA.
Police Presence

The City of Crofton now has a contract with the Knox County Sheriffs Department for patroling in the City. The hours are flexible. Call 911 to access them. There is no tractor or semi access on Omaha Street to the Elevator.
